This morning began in full Monday mode—which, in our house, means a mix of chaos and caffeine. Charlotte wanted breakfast, the compost and trash both needed to be taken out (and yes, the paper bag ripped from the bottom), the dishes were still piled up, and the coffee wasn’t even made yet. I headed to the bathroom to wash my hands and, of course, we were out of soap. I went upstairs to grab some and saw that our dog Emilio had just used the other bathroom. One of those mornings.
Stress was bubbling up between Cata and me, but we held the line. No snapping, no sharp words. Just silence, deep breaths, and leaning hard on grace. As the whirlwind swirled, this verse floated to mind:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
It’s not easy to stay grounded when the morning unravels, but God’s Word has a way of anchoring us.
Another ongoing challenge: Brooklyn is learning to eat solids. It sometimes feels like a Jedi-level negotiation, trying to get a few bites in. But we’ve seen progress. She’s not fighting as much, and even if it’s just a couple spoonfuls, we’re thankful. Prayer has been our quiet companion through each meal, and honestly, we’ve seen God’s kindness show up in those little victories.
I whispered a prayer of thanks—not just for Brooklyn eating a few bites, but for God helping us keep our cool this morning. He really does hear us.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
Later, we decided to make good on yesterday’s plan to head to the pool. After Brooklyn woke from her nap, we packed up and spent a sweet hour swimming. It was her first time in the water, and it brought smiles all around. Afterward, lunch came easy and the girls got in a solid nap.
It wasn’t a perfect day, but it was full of grace—just enough for each moment.
So if your Monday felt like a slow-motion juggling act, you’re not alone. Trust Him with the mess. He sees it, and He walks through it with us.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being present in the mess of our mornings. When our plans fall apart and tensions rise, remind us to lean on You. Help us to stay gentle with each other, to pause and breathe, and to trust You with every small thing. Thank You for hearing our quiet prayers and for showing up in unexpected grace. Strengthen us for today, and let us not grow weary in doing the good You’ve placed before us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
