God’s Purpose

There are times—on a day-to-day basis—when I feel like I’m not fulfilling the purpose for which God has called me here on earth.

Work constantly demands more. There’s always one more meeting, one more task, one more deadline. But how often do I stop to pray for the success of the company? To offer it up to God? One verse that comes to mind is Colossians 3:23:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

That’s a hard one to apply when you’re under pressure—when tension and stress rise and expectations feel impossible to meet. It’s hard not to grumble or push back. Sometimes all I can manage is a tired, “Yes, ma’am” or “Yes, sir.”

And then there’s family.

I’ll be honest: some days parenting feels like an obligation. There are moments I feel like I’m just repeating myself—giving the same instruction, the same correction—not once, not twice, but again and again. Teaching patience, love, kindness, and all the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5 takes intentionality and consistency. It requires us, as parents, to model what we teach with calmness and peace—even when we’re running on empty.

I don’t always get it right. Sometimes I snap. Sometimes I speak in frustration, whether with the kids or even with Cata. But I’ve learned the only way to stay grounded is to remain constant in prayer—through every correction, every lesson, every moment.

So I remind myself throughout the day to ask the Lord to be at the center of it all. Whatever I do—whether at work, at home, or in the quiet in-between—I want to do it wholeheartedly for Him.

That’s why I begin my day in prayer, committing everything—my work, my family, our schedule—into His hands. I seek Him in His Word and return again to this promise:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
—Matthew 6:33

Lord, thank You for the daily strength and courage You give both Cata and me to seek You and walk in Your purpose—one day at a time.

Closing Prayer

Lord, remind us that our work, our parenting, and even our weary days are opportunities to glorify You. Give us hearts that are steadfast in Your purpose, and hands that serve with joy. Be the center of our every moment, and help us to seek Your kingdom first. Amen.
